Business Valuation Mandate for a Private Healthcare Establishment
Independent valuation of a private healthcare clinic conducted in preparation for a capital reorganisation and investor entry
Mandate Description
The mandate consisted of a business valuation assignment carried out on behalf of the historical shareholders of a private healthcare establishment located in French-speaking Switzerland, active in surgery, physiotherapy and specialised medical care.
The objective of the assignment was to determine the economic value of the company as part of a capital reorganisation process prior to the entry of a new shareholder intended to support the development of the business.
The establishment operates a modern technical platform, with capacity for several dozen inpatient beds, and relies on a multidisciplinary medical team recognised for its expertise.
The valuation was performed within an enterprise value range between ten and fifteen million Swiss francs, consistent with Swiss sector benchmarks and the growth prospects of the establishment.
Key Issues
The main challenges of the mandate were to understand the real economic performance of the business in a highly regulated healthcare environment.
A key objective was to identify sustainable value creation levers within the private healthcare sector.
The assignment required the implementation of multiple valuation approaches, including a discounted cash flow method adapted to the stability of medical income streams.
A relative valuation approach was also applied, based on EBITDA multiples observed in the private hospital sector, generally ranging between eight and twelve times depending on medical specialisation and real estate structure.
In addition, the practitioners’ method was used as a complementary reference and appended to the valuation report.
The overall objective was to determine a valuation range consistent with operational realities and future investment plans, including the development of a new physiotherapy platform intended to expand the scope of medical services.
Approach and Results
The valuation was conducted using a rigorous and independent methodology, in accordance with international valuation standards and Swiss valuation practices.
- The analysis resulted in a clear and well-supported valuation range, which served as a reference framework for discussions between shareholders and potential investors.
This assignment contributed to strengthening the company’s financial governance and preparing for the entry of a strategic partner, while preserving medical continuity and the quality of patient care.
